January TRA Zoom Meeting

January 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We are holding our next TRA Zoom meeting on the 19th January at 7:00pm.

We will invite resident services, and ward counsellors to answer your queries.

Joining instructions are listed below:

Meeting ID: 861 1062 6768
Passcode: 828927

19:00 – Welcome, Guests,  & Attendance Register

19:05 – Update on Jack Hobbs Club

We are still awaiting a date for the follow up mediation meeting with Dave Walker to confirm the actions that were agreed on 11th November 2021. (Please see attached notes)

We are unaware of any scheduled activities being run or planned by Chloe or the SYA for 2022. The SYA are using the space to run internal training sessions, but there appear to be no events being run that involve Brandon residents.

We did communicate some ideas to Chloe last year about some events that could be hosted for seniors, and the general estate population, and are still waiting to hear her response. We will update you all if we are made aware of any scheduled events.

19:20 – Activities across the Brandon for 2022

The Brandon TRA’s liaised with Cherrelle from Fight 4 Change and the following activities will be running from February 2022.

  • Coffee Mornings – Thursday 10:00am – 1:00pm – JHC
  • Homework Club – Thursday 3:45pm – 5:00pm – Rachel Leigh
  • Taekwondo – Thursday 5:00pm – 6:30pm – JHC
  • Movie Night – Thursday 6:45pm – 8:30pm – Rachel Leigh

19:30 – Great Estates

Metrostor bin enclosures

The MetroStor bin enclosures are being installed, however there have been some teething problems with the bin placement within. This will be rectified next week.

Shipping container parklet

We. Art starting to work on the design of this with Peter Balazs. Are any of the committee interested in becoming involved in this?

Public art on library & youth club

The artists brief has been agreed and circulated, and we are awaiting the responses from interested parties. A committee consisting of Brandon residents, Youth Club members, LBS Officers, and Counsellors will evaluate the responses.

19:45 – Vacant Shop Unit on Maddock Way

There has been no progress on this issue & the unit is still void. This delay is quite disappointing, and we will escalate our ongoing disappointment to ward counsellors.

19:50 – GiG Funding – Afro / Caribbean Evening

Following on from the successful Latino Night in December we are planning to host an Afro Caribbean evening on the 26th February. This is still in the planning stage, but we hope to have foo, drink, & music & performers. Please let us have your ideas, and get in touch with Ola if you know any bands or performers who would like to be involved.

This will be a ticketed event, and will be advertised across the estate, closer to the time.

20:00 – District Heating

We are still awaiting the minutes of the heating meeting on Tuesday 30th November. We are also trying to get an independent review of the works undertaken in 2019, which introduced the current issues we are having with noise & heating outages.

A number of upgrades (anti-vibration mounts, isolation bellows, etc.) are currently being retrofitted to the existing plant rooms to address the noise issues.

The proposed riser pipe upgrade is on hold, pending further analysis of the existing pipework.

20:10 – Resident Services – Nat Stevens

Reps from resident services are here to answer your questions.

  • AGM – We are proposing to hold our AGM on Wednesday 16th February 2022. This will be subject to getting our accounts audited in time by SGTO. Please do encourage as many residents as you know to attend and get involved.
  • We purchased a fridge freezer to be used for events that we will be hosting over 2022.
  • In the absence of any cleaning contact being set up for the JHC, we propose to purchase a vacuum cleaner, so that we can keep the TRA allocated spaces clean & tidy.
