General Meeting – Future of the Jack Hobbs Club

Southwark council’s Director of Communities, Stephen Douglass, wants to meet with the Brandon community to discuss possible future uses of the Jack Hobbs club. A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday 18th October, at 19:00 in the Jack Hobbs club, and all residents are welcome to attend, listen to the ideas that Southwark are proposing, and put forward any ideas they may have.
The Jack Hobbs club was originally designed as the social hub of the Brandon estate, and was intended to be used by residents for social occasions. However in recent years, most of the property was leased to CASP (Camberwell After School Project) who ran an after school club. CASP recently decided not to renew their lease, so theJack Hobbs club has been empty since.
Following the youth violence on the Brandon this summer, Southwark is reviewing how the Jack Hobbs club might be used in the future.
  • Do you have any views on what uses the Jack Hobbs club should be put to? Youth engagement services?
  • Do you have any other suggestions for the use of the Jack Hobbs club?
  • Are you worried of the effect of youths congregating on the estate?
  • Are you concerned that the Jack Hobbs club may be sold off to developers?
  • Come along to the meeting on the 18th October and put your ideas forward.
