The Pelier TRA is pleased to announce that we are officially having the grand re-opening of the much-awaited redevelopment of the community Pelier Park on Sunday April 16 12-4 pm.
This event will see the park transformed with a free party for all the community and all ages! It will see:
- Face painting.
- Music.
- Street performers.
- Free hot-dogs.
- Craft workshops.
- Street entertainers.
- Kids activities.
The park has been through a massive transformation as it was originally the site of a music hall turned cinema lost during the WW2 bombings. The proposals create an active and vibrant focal point for all ages at the centre of the park-infused by memories of the music hall. As a park the layout maximises green spaces, reorientated pathways and reshapes topography to provide better play and open spaces for local residents. The works have been funded by Southwark Council working closely with the local TRA to bring this new revived park to the local Pelier estate and surrounding community.
We will have the Deputy Mayor of Southwark who will officially reopen the park at 3:15 pm with an official cutting of the ribbon to open the park. They will help us celebrate the opening of this green lung in the heart of the community which is a real hub for the community in and around the Pelier estate in Walworth. Jack Carroll (Chair of the Pelier TRA) said of the event:
“It has taken lots of hard work and time to get our community park refurbished and improved for the local community. A community park is its hub, it is where the community meets and has fun and a place where you can come and walk your dog in my case. I am excited that all of this hard work will be shared with local people in this free community re-opening of our Pelier community park. It will be great to see as many local people as possible come and join us on Sunday 16 April!”
